Welcome and all aboard the Charles City Model Railroad Club. What you see before you are countless hours of work and play. The Club was founded in 1976 and found a permanent home here at the Floyd County Museum in 1979.
The current layout depicts Northeast Iowa and the area surrounding Charles City. Look close and you will find pieces of Charles City past and present. There is the scratch build Hildreth Hotel, the Hart Parr Tractor plant, and Jacobs Grain Elevator just to name a few. Also, watch for people waiting for their train at Union Station and for the black bears high in the mountains. It took over 800 feet of track to complete the layout with 328 of those feet in the central switch yard alone.
If you would like to know more feel free to stop by our meetings every Wednesday night at 8 pm. Stand back and let the clickity clack of iron on steel take you into the world of model trains. We hope you have enjoyed your stop at the Charles City Model Railroad Club and hope you come ride with us again soon.
